Hiya everyone,
This is my second post of today (and ever), but I wanted to make my blog to be at least a bit interesting. In this post I'll be reviewing some of the figures that I own. The figures are all from the same set, which is named the Deformation Maniac Collection. The characters are from the Fullmetal Alchemist / Hagane no Renkinjutsushi (鋼の錬金術師) series and are four of the most well known characters from said series, namely Edward and Alphonse Elric, Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye.
Well now onto the figures.
First is Edward Elric. For information on his character follow this link;
The first picture is of the box. It is a nice box, there's no window in it, but since this is only a small figure it is to be expected. The artwork on the ouside is nicely done and you get to see what is inside.
Box = 7/10
Next a photo of him next to the box. He is about 10 cm high and fits right into the box. You can see that a red stand is included for him to stand on.
A shot from the front. Even though he is not that tall (don't shoot me Edward), he is quite detailed and as you can see he can stand without his stand, which is a big plus for me since I didn't like the stands. While it is a fixed pose by looking at his hair you still get the feeling that the pose is not that static.
Another plus is the fact that this pose complements his personality, it is a somewhat typical Edward pose.
Pose = 8/10
Next is Alphonse Elric. For information on his character follow this link;
The box is almost the same,the only thing that is different is the fact that it has Alphonse on it except for Edward. The first thing I noticed was that Alphonse, as in anime and manga, is taller than Edward. The fact that his stand is red too bothers me more with Alphonse than with Edward and thus I like to display them without their stand.
Here you can see that Alphonse too has no problem with being displayed without his stand, which I think looks loads better. He doesn't look that metallic as I would've liked, but he looks fine none the less. It would've been great to see his bloodseal in his harnas, but you can't take the head of. That earns him a minus point. I don't like the pose as much, he's too static in my opinion.
Here is a picture from the brother's back. The detail on Alphonse tail? is awesome and the shading on Ed's hair is great too, especially if you remind yourself they are practically trading figures.
Conclusion;
The stands and poses could've been better, but the price is great compared to the quality you get.
Edward get's a 8/10
Alphonse get's a 7/10
Here's some bonus shots for you guys!
Next up is Roy Mustang; For more information on his character follow this link ;
His box is the same size as Edwards and has been decorated in almost the same way too. There's nothing wrong with it, but it could've been better. Roy too has a red stand, which I'm not fond of.
Luckily Roy too is able to stand without that horrible red stand, but he has a tendency to fall over once in a while. His hair is detailed and the fact that he even has an alchemy circle on his glove, showes how much thought and work they have put in these figures. His wicked smile is very Mustang-like, so his pose is very well done.
Followed by Riza Hawkeye; For more information on her character follow this link ;
Her eyes are one of the first things I noticed about this figure. They are very well done and quite detailed for such a small figure. The gun she is holding is quite detailed as well and gives her a very nice pose. The way her uniform swings around her gives less oppurtunity for a static pose .
Her hair seems less well done than Edward's as the shading is not nearly as good. Her pose however is the best out of all the four figures. While the rest of the figures look great from the front, to get a good view of Riza one must not look directly from the front but somewhat at an angle. Her pose gets way more dynamic this way.
The last two figures look great from the back too. Even though Riza's hair looks slightly odd from behind, it is still very detailed. Boots and uniform are as detailed as from the front, so no complains from me there.
The figures look great, but even after all that the fact that their stands are RED, still keeps bothering me.
Roy Mustang; 7/10
Riza Hawkeye 8/10
Here's a bonus shot for you.
Hopefully you enjoyed reading my review as much as I enjoyed writing it. All I can say to my fellow figure collectors and FMA fans is that if you can get your hands on these figures, do it! For a small prize you have great figures from great quality!
Greetzzz,
MissKioshi
